Counting The Cost To Hospitality

With arrival of COVID-19, the true cost to the local economy will be widespread and costly beyond our current imagination. Yet we all have to play our part in stopping this Virus

A typical Group of 6 staying for a week will spend £17.85 per night on their Self Catering accommodation per head.  They will add a hot tub to their stay at a cost of £3.57 They will have an on site Pizza Night at a cost of £25,  they will typically spend £70 in a local pub on eating and drinking out. And spend £25 on Takeaway food / eating out.

Guests will have a daily grocery spend of £5.95 per day, and daily alcohol spend of £10 (I may have underestimated this).  Visiting local attractions they will typically Spend £50 during their stay and have a material spend of £150 on clothing/luxury items.

Working these figures through Each person will contribute £83.09 per day directly to the local economy, these calculations exclude fuel, public transport and parking.

The weekly Contribution to the local economy is therefore in the region of £581.66 this excludes their weekly spend of £3.50 on hand sanitiser and face masks.

Whilst the weekly spend with us on the Farm will typically be £175 this accounts for just 30% of their overall local contribution.

Upon the lifting of the last lockdown, we saw unprecedented growth in business with guests booking for the last bit of the UK Summer. Our Farm Stay has AA COVID Confident status and has the Visit England’s Good To Go Award.
