Dandelion in Tempura Batter During Lockdown
So this recipe is a perfect activity for lockdown it takes more time than its worth, totally vegan other than the egg, and is good for both the lawn and your children.
Step 1

Collect 1/2 ltr of dandelion heads no need for a knife they just pull off at the head, only pick those in full flower. Return inside and wash hands with soap and water for 20 seconds, singing happy birthday if it helps.
Step 2
Pour your first glass of wine and set aside, start with a clean kitchen, making Tempura batter will get the kitchen and all your work surfaces in a right mess, so will take about half an hour of teamwork to clean afterward, the time you have at the moment.
Step 3
Place Dandelion heads into a clean bowl, check for Bees and remove as necessary lightly dust with flour using a sieve. Check again for bees again they are easier to spot at this stage. Toss with chopsticks to ensure even coating of flour this helps the batter to stick. (Not The Bees)
Step 4

Pour the second glass of wine and set aside, Into another bowl break one egg and remove any bits of shell, add a 3/4 cup of iced water leaving the ice behind Season with Black pepper you can add other seasonings at this point to stop the dish being as dull as dishwater. Using a sieve add a 3/4 cup of plain flour, mix with chopsticks just enough to integrate the flour egg and water but taking care not to over mix.
Step 5
In a small pan heat 2” of vegetable oil electric 5 children will be bored by now so will have disappeared from the dance area leaving you to your own devices with a pan of hot oil, do not leave unattended, the last thing you want to be doing is calling the fire brigade out due to your own stupidity. Pour your third glass of white wine and set aside.
Step 6

Gradually add floured dandelion heads to batter mix with chopsticks ensuring these are immersed fully, add 4-5 at a time to the hot oil using chopsticks have your mix close to the pan as it will save time in clearing up afterwards.
Step 7

Pour your fourth glass of wine and set aside, line a tray with kitchen roll to place each cooked head, try your first dandelion in tamboura batter, realise its too hot and drink the fourth glass of wine to relieve any burning sensation. Call the children back to sample their first dandelion this is a social media opportunity. Cook the remaining dandelion heads. And remove the oil from the heat turn off the hob and your part is done.
Step 8
Open your second bottle of wine and think about cleaning the kitchen. Retire to the sofa and contemplate why at your age had you never tried eating Dandelions from the lawn before.
Step 9
Compost the remaining Dandelion heads, you should have reduced the possibility of them growing into 6000 further dandelions, your work here is done.
