One of our best decisions some six years ago now was planting an orchard, it provides us with a wide variety of apples, cob nuts, cherries and to the top end a number of fruit bushes deliver early summer pickings. The orchard attracts a wide variety of wild life including woodpeckers, swallows, buzzards and blue tits, bees thrive amidst the blossom.
By no means is an orchard easy work, yearly pruning, weekly mowing and the loss of grazing in the early years for our sheep, but fruit for us the sheep and pigs pay us back threefold
