Olympic Torch Passes Through Alcester

Sunday 1st July 2012 is the date to put in your diary and get ready to grab the best viewing spot.

On that day the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will pass through Chipping Campden, Gloucestershire.

On that actual day the torch relay will start at Birmingham and pass through Solihull, Earlswood, Redditch, Astwood Bank, Alcester, Evesham, Wickhamford and Broadway to arrive at Chipping Campden.

It will then move onto Newbold on Stour, Alderminster, Stratford upon Avon, Warwick, Royal Leamington Spa and Kenilworth before ending the day at Coventry for the evening celebrations.

Beginning in Lands End on 19th May 2012 the London 2012 Olympic Torch Relay will cross the UK, travelling within 10 miles of 95% of the UK population on its way to the Opening Ceremony of the London 2012 Olympic Games on Friday 27th July 2012

The Olympic Games are on from 27th July until 12th August 2012

The London 2012 Olympic Torch features 8000 small cut-out circles representing the 8000 inspirational people who will carry it on its journey around the UK

The torch was designed by east londoners Edward Barber and Jay Osgerby.

The torch is made up of an inner and an outer aluminium alloy skin, held in place by a cast top peice and base, perforated by 8000 circles and stands 800mm high.
